Quilt made by Linda Ferguson
Have some fun with your creations. Linda has made this quilt for a friend who loves frogs. With the type of fabrics used and the design of the quilt, an all over frog pattern, adds texture and the illusion of frogs swimming under the water. A variegated thread in similar colours also helped in creating the illusions of shadows.

Edge-to-edge 'Chantilly Lace'. Again due to the strength of the egyptian fabrics, the quilting was chosen to give texture to the quilt and look like sand dunes in the desert without detracting from the overall design.

Edge-to-edge 'Oriental Clouds' to continue the shape and texture of the fabric design within the quilt itself. The soft rolling texture of the clouds echo the oriental theme. The quilts design is the focus and not the quilting.

The edge-to-edge ‘Gum Leaves’ quilting ties in beautifully with the Australianna theme of the fabrics used in this quilt for Helen’s Father in Law Ray. Perfect for that 'fair dink'm bloke'

This quilt was made for Carols husband, who loves to go fishing. So in keeping with this knowledge an overall ‘Fish’ design was used. This will insure that at least if nothing else is caught, it won’t be a cold.

Using a curved quilting pattern on a quilt with sharp angles breaks the harshness of the black lines. The swirl in the ‘Scroll’ quilting pattern, is also in keeping with the tranquil oriental theme of the quilts design.

An eye spy quilt is designed for kids of all ages to crawl, point and sit on to find what pictures hide within the frames. This image inspired the use of 'Hands' as the edge-to-edge design, as a hope that little hands would find a place to rest as they explore the quilt.

'Rockets, planets and stars' edge-to-edge design was used on this fun quilt made for Graeme's grandson. The edge-to-edge quilting in matching threads adds a great texture to the overall quilt top, giving it another dimension.

This kaleidoscope quilt has a very distinctive theme, ducks. To keep the focus on the effect created by the fabric, an edge-to-edge design is preferred, as it blends in rather then detracts from the quilt top. The edge-to-edge pattern used was 'Duckfeet' in keeping with the quilts overall theme.
Quilt made by Christina Priest
In comparison to the duck kaleidoscope quilt, 'Duck feet' was used to convey the theme of "on the beat", in keeping with the theme of a police officer on his petrol.

‘Chantilly Lace’ was selected here to give texture without being too feminine, as the quilt was a wedding present. The curves of the lace design, adds elegance and works well with the movement of the quilts backing fabric.

'Cotton Candy' is a light edge-to-edge pattern that breaks the harsh lines of the tops design with the curled contrast of the quilting style.

By using a heavy edge-to-edge design such as 'Fancy Butterflies' with a contrasting blue thread, the quilting gives body and texture to an otherwise plain design.
