Quilt made by Carol Ballard
Using a pastel variegated thread, which created light and shadows, butterflies’ flying over a flowerbed was achieved. The ‘Daisy and leaf’ edge-to-edge pattern appears to fall to the background, while the butterflies play above.
Quilt made by Christina Priest
Quilted in bright variegated thread using a ‘Butterfly and rose’ edge-to-edge pattern, gave the plain black boarder definition and tied it back into the main feature of the hand pieced flowers.
Quilt made by Lesa Sheean
This was Lesa’s first quilt. An all over design was selected based on the theme of butterflies. As Lesa loves colours I used a variegated thread in bright colours and the ‘Imperial butterfly’ edge-to-edge pattern ties in nicely.
Quilt made by Pip Grimmond
Pip made this quilt for her daughter’s partner. With the strong colours of black on white in the top and a plain black used as backing, contrasting with red thread was a must. This lifted the quilt back and gave lots of movement to the front.
